Relocate that cartridge slot - Cartridge slot extender available to order.

Added by 917k over 7 years ago

Bits of the Past just put a cartridge slot extender up for sale to relocate that cartridge slot from the daughter card... $35 plus shipping...
Also a version including a cartridge guide to deal with those pesky brown Atari cartridges runs another $6.00. Looks pretty simple, cut a hole and
mount with standoffs. Now all we need are SIO and PBI extenders.

Do you know how to use Eagle? The free version is good enough and its not that hard. You could load the existing sub-board as a base schematic. Then order somewhere like this: http://dirtypcbs.com/store/pcbs

Looking from my own perspective, I see that the only thing which we need for the eclaireXL, is someone to design and produce a plastic cartridge holder, to fit on the external of the mini ITX case.
Then of course the potential user with the help of a dremel tool, must to cut a rectangular hole in the metal body of mini ITX case, and using spacers from inside to fix a dedicated adapter board pcb, which can be designed by me. This will be a very useful way to change cartridges asap!

So the "cartridge slot extender" from Drop-check is totally useless in our case, because the ribbon length for this is below 30cm on eclaireXL.

In the past even before she think for something like this for 1088XL, I had suggested to make such a plastic adapter for us, and sold within her web shop. I offered to finance also something like this.
Although initially accepted it, finally never happen.

Could you elaborate on what you are thinking about the plastic cartridge holder? I may be able to help out with this. Is this basically an external bezel and an internal "tunnel" to guide a cartridge down to the connector PCB?
